Brad Pitt, Hollywood’s Godfather

Could it be that rather than being anti-war they are just anti-Bush? Well, according to Hollywood leftist Ed Asner, there are all kinds of excuses for this screaming silence, but among them is this: no one wants to be seen as anti-black should they criticize America's first black president: Asner said the lack of an organized effort against war in Syria is a matter of timing. Bush took months to make the case for war in Iraq, giving the antiwar left plenty of time to prepare a response. "It will be a done deal before Hollywood is mobilized," Asner said. "This country will either bomb the hell out of Syria or not before Hollywood gets off its ass." Also, said Asner, unsuccessful efforts to prevent war in Iraq led to complacency among left-wing activists.
Source: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2013/09/07/Ed-asner-hollywood-syria-black

Networks Are Covering Syria The good news for President Barack Obama as he considers a military response against Syria for using chemical weapons against rebels is that he probably won't have kim kardashian ray j tape to deal with a similar anti-war movement from Hollywood. But that's not because there isn't opposition. It's just not organized, and, as Asner and Farrell two of the industry's most vocal progressive activists -- told The Hollywood Reporter Friday, perhaps it never will be. While some conservatives see hypocrisy , Farrell says that an all-out war in Iraq under Bush, a Republican who was very unpopular in Hollywood, was a much bigger deal than potential missile strikes against Syria under the direction of Obama, a Democrat who drew millions for his campaigns from showbiz industry donors. PHOTOS: Top Celebrity Twitter Commentators Asner, 83, and Farrell, 74, both expressed extreme disappointment in Obama for advocating military action. "What he is talking about in Syria is a potential war crime," Farrell said. "It will be illegal, and if citizens are killed it certainly could be considered a war crime." Even if Obama presents irrefutable evidence that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used poison gas against civilians, military action is still unwarranted, the two activists say.
Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/syria-why-hollywoods-anti-war-623326

Hollywood's 'disappointing' summer sets box office record

It's not just a question of using the Bowl's new high-definition video screens and "painting" on a larger canvas, says Wink. "We have to make it an immersive and poetic experience for everyone from the front row to 50 yards back. You have to own the place." That has only become possible, adds Wink, "because with the invitation from the Bowl came the permission to 'go crazy.'" "Absolutely. We had no trepidation, " says Hollywood Bowl program manager Brian Grohl. "Anyone who knows Blue Man knows what they're getting into fun, http://bloggd.org/blog/v/ll4c/Report%3A+Kim+Kardashian+gives+birth+to+baby+girl smart entertainment." TIMELINE: Summer's must see concerts When Blue Man asked who in the orchestra might be a game player for its antics, Grohl offered up concert mistress and violinist Katia Popov, who will be magically transformed into a "slightly cheesy" rocker, and principal guest conductor Thomas Wilkins, who will be turned into a human paintbrush and hoisted high above the stage. Or at least a stunt double will. "There's no question that this event will change the Bowl as much as it might change Blue Man," says Grohl.
Source: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/arts/culture/la-et-cm-blue-man-group-hollywood-bowl-20130906,0,7207444.story

Hollywood Film Awards to Honor 'Before Midnight' Writers Linklater, Delpy and Hawke (Exclusive)

There were some surprise hits, like "The Conjuring" and "The Purge." And there were a string of movies that did very well, even though they didn't quite hit blockbuster range, such as "Despicable Me 2," "Star Trek: Into Darkness," and "Fast and Furious 6." For Hollywood, summer 2013 was a confusing concoction a record season that felt underwhelming. "I'm not sure there are any grand lessons to be learned from this except that you have to throw a lot of stuff on the wall of mass culture to see what sticks," says Robert Thompson, founder of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University in New York. "Yes, there were no mega-blockbusters, and yes, the movies way down the list at 4, 5, 6 and lower made up for the gap but to translate that into a workable formula is impossible. Thats why they call it show business and not mathematics." Part of the reason for the sense of letdown comes from the fact that Hollywood released 18 films that cost more than $100 million this summer, up from 13 last year. Yet only 11 will hit the $100 million mark in domestic sales.
Source: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Society/2013/0904/Hollywood-s-disappointing-summer-sets-box-office-record
